I'm trying to setup 10 servers with a quad port gigabit nic using the linux bonding driver in balance-rr mode. But how is this supposed to be done?
I'm not switching to 10Gbe because it's too expensive for now. So I wanted to use multiple gigabit nics and aggregate the bandwidth.
For as far as I can tell the balance-rr mode is the only mode that will allow higher than 1 gigabit worth of throughput. It's striping the traffic across multiple interfaces so in theory should get me 4gigabit.
I have a HP 2810-48G switch which supports LACP, for instance, but that's not what we need for balance-rr
So how does it work? Should I configure 4 vlan's and put each port in a different vlan?
