So, i have been using the Java jdb commandline debugger tool lately in a case where i did not want to use a heayweight eclipse. i wanted to dig a little bit deeper in what might be possible that is not supported IDEs.
E.g. i found some intersting command where i was not able to find any documentation of:
read <filename> -- read and execute a command file
What can i do with it?
I am particular interested if i can combine it with "trace" command to maybe "script" what exact methods/data to trace:
trace [go] methods [thread]
-- trace method entries and exits.
-- All threads are suspended unless 'go' is specified
Where i am going with this is: have some way of attach to a program and dynamically define and get some useful/smart traces.
Note that i am not interested in any other tools that might be out there. was just wondering what is possible with the builtin tools of the JDK.
